What did you do before creating Collagin and how did you get into gin?
We both worked in a PR agency and that is how we met. We quickly saw how well we worked together and how our skills complement each other. We really bring out each other's creativity and knew we had to bottle that by doing our own thing together. What made you decide to create Collagin? It was actually a PR stunt that we turned into a reality. It has gone from a creative brainstorm to international shelves. How did you get from the idea to the finished product? With a lot of difficulties! Many people told us we couldn't do it and that two PR girls would not be able to launch a gin company. But the doubt, lack of belief and negativity just spurred us on! The amount of people who told us it would fail is laughable now but at the time was really damaging to our confidence. We found a good mentor, an even better financial director, then with the undoubting support from our partners we set off on our journey, accepting the obstacles and doing what we could to get around them. Our darkest days turned out to be our best. In the world of PR, you have to be a problem solver and that's how we have got through the last few months. We don't let obstacles stop us but instead find a route around them. We turned failings into lessons and negativity into strength. Can you tell us more about the collagen in Collagin? The collagen is odourless and does not affect the taste or colour of our gin nor does it sediment in the bottle over time. We use America's number one collagen brand in our gin and like most collagens on the market. The collagen isn't suitable for vegetarians. How would you describe Collagin in 3 words? Velvety, smooth, flawless. What makes Collagin different to other gins? It is the only gin distilled with pure collagen. What's your favourite way to drink your gin? Collagin is best served with 1724 tonic water and a fresh slice of pink grapefruit or a star anise. What are your favourite gins (other than Collagin of course!)? Liz's favourite is Silent Pool Gin with a slice of fresh orange and Camilla's is Monkey 47 Gin in a classic martini. What's next, any exciting plans? Our mini bottles will be out soon and we have plans for another CollaGin blend and another collagen distilled spirit. Watch this space! Comments are closed.
