Makar Gin - Reviews, Tasting Notes & Distillery Information
About The Glasgow Distillery Co
The Glasgow Distillery Company was launched in 2012 - a reincarnation of the original company that took over Glasgow's first distillery which was founded in 1770. 'Makar' is the Gaelic word for 'poet', aiming to reflect the gin's craft and creativity, and their gins are made in-house in a 450 litre copper still called Annie. The heptagonal bottles represent the 7 botanicals in their Original Dry Gin that support the juniper, including black pepper, rosemary and liquorice. |
Makar Original Dry Gin Review
Tasting Notes: Fragrant and piney on the nose, with juniper and rosemary. Full-bodied and smooth on the palate, with juniper and peppery spice. Dry and earthy on the finish, with juniper and rosemary. Serving Suggestion / Garnish: Martini or Gin & Tonic garnished with rosemary or lemon. |
Review: Launched in 2014, Makar Gin is full flavoured, bold and certainly juniper-led, with a full, smooth mouthfeel. To taste, piney juniper stands out in full force, with aromatic rosemary and notes of citrus and black pepper. These characteristics and flavours make Makar Gin ideal for martinis. - Paul Jackson
