The Oxford Artisan Distillery
|
Launched in 2017 and located between Headington and the centre of Oxford, The Oxford Artisan Distillery produces a range of spirits, including gin, absinthe, vodka and whisky. The team produces its own organic spirit from ancient heritage grains rather than buying in grain neutral spirit, and uses two copper stills - the 2,400 litre Nautilus and 500 litre Nemo - which were commissioned especially for the distillery and produced by steam engine manufacturers. The Oxford Artisan Distillery manages hundreds of acres of farmland, implementing their progressive farming methods and investing in research into grain farming. In 2022, the distillery received investment from Diageo through their Distilled Ventures accelerator.

Meet the Makers
"Gin recipes are all about telling a story. Our gin recipe tells the story of our fields, starting with the seed that we plant and the heritage grain that we grow. As with everything at The Oxford Artisan Distillery, the gin base is distilled from our heritage grains, grown just for us mostly within 50 miles of Oxford. Eschewing pesticides and chemical fertilisers all of our crops are grown sustainably, contributing to an abundance of wildflowers, insects and birds across our farms."
