Bath Gin Review & Tasting Notes
About Bath Gin
Bath Gin (Canary Edition) is the creation of the owner of The Canary gin bar, Peter Meacock, on Queen Street in Bath. The Bath Gin Company installed the first gin still in Bath for 250 years as part of their own micro-distillery and secured significant funding in 2016 to further develop their facilities and gin range. The gin uses 10 botanicals, including more unusual inclusions such as Kaffir lime leaf and wormwood. The bottle features a winking Jane Austen - a former resident of Bath and believed to have been a gin drinker. The Gin Guide says... Bath Gin is a subtle, light and fresh gin. Juniper and citrus notes are most prominent, with elements such as the burnt orange peel balancing well with the sweeter notes, such as from the liquorice. It also works very pleasingly in cocktails, as the popular Canary Gin Bar aims to highlight. With a little more boldness and fullness of flavour, Bath Gin could well become a very strong player far beyond Bath - certainly one to watch and a gin you can expect to see a lot more of.
