Bear Brothers Gin - Review & Tasting Notes
Bear Brothers Gin
Bear Brothers Gin was launched in 2019 following the launch of their vodka. The team consists of brothers and childhood friends from the south of France, and the gin features handpicked mountain juniper, Pyrenean citrus and Pyrenean spring water. All of the ingredients are from France other than bergamot and the Bear Brothers team have constructed a greenhouse with the aim of growing all their own citrus ingredients in future. The gin is produced in seasonal distillations using fresh ingredients, with slight variations in the botanicals and flavour profile depending on the time of year. |
The Gin Guide Review
Bear Brothers Gin is a generous showcase of citrus. From lemon, orange and bergamot to more unusual varieties such as Buddha's Hand and finger lime, there's great depth of citrus flavour alongside piney juniper and coriander seeds and liquorice which provide a bass-line throughout. The combination of citrus flavours presents all the different characters of citrus with well-balanced construction, from bright, fresh notes and sweet sherbet notes to deep, earthy and bittersweet notes from peels. When mixed with tonic, Bear Brothers Gin remains juniper and citrus-led and the balance of earthier notes is elevated too. Lemon zest makes for an ideal garnish starting point. - Paul Jackson, 2020
