Black Cockatoo Distillery
Black Cockatoo Distillery was launched in Bridgeton (WA) in 2022 by Pete and Rachel Galvin after being inspired by a love for spirits, the natural environments of south-west Australia, and native Australian ingredients. The Black Cockatoo Gin range, which includes their Signature Gin, Desert Lime Gin, and Bush Berry Gin, is distilled by Pete on the edge of the Blackwood Forest, with botanicals sourced from local grower Tucker Bush and with citrus and lavender from Pete and Rachel's garden. The distillery is named after the iconic West Australian bird and 10% of profits are donated to the Kaarakin Black Cockatoo Rehabilitation Centre near Perth.

Black Cockatoo Signature Gin (42% ABV)

  • Botanicals: 13 including juniper, coriander seeds, allspice, cloves, liquorice, fennel seeds, lemon myrtle, native oregano, macadamia nuts, grapefruit peel, lemon peel, orange peel, lime skin. Base Spirit: Grain.
  • Serving Suggestion: Gin & Tonic with a garnish of Orange, or in a Negroni or White Lady.
  • Tasting Notes: Aromas of juniper and citrus peels. Lemon, lime, orange and grapefruit peel on the palate with juniper, lemon myrtle, and depth of spice. A warming finish of  cloves and fennel seeds, with oregano and bittersweet citrus.

Berry Bush Gin (41% ABV)
  • Featuring native Bush Berries (also known as Lilly Pilly berries), river mint, and Geraldton waxflower, alongside pink grapefruit, cardamom seeds, and lavender. The gin has a pink hue from an infusion of wild hibiscus flowers and raspberries after distillation.
Desert Lime Gin (41% ABV)
  • Featuring desert limes - a grape-sized fruit with a sweet tang - alongside citrus fruits, allspice, ginger, liquorice root, and angelica root
