Branderiet
|
Branderiet was launched Brande, Denmark, in 2021 by Rene Schau Larsen and Eugen Coulthard. It is one of Denmark's smallest legally registered distilleries and is operated from a garage, home to a 200L copper pot still. The brand name is a playful combination of the distillery's home city of Brande and the Danish word for distillery - 'distilleriet' - aiming to reflect the local roots and the hands-on approach to distilling. With the distillery located in Jutland, an area of the country characterised by heathland, the logo is a moorhen - known as the 'king of the heath'. Although small in size, the distillery produces an extensive range of gins, from their London Dry Gin to flavoured gins and aged gins, as well as whiskey.

Meet the Makers

"We started during the COVID lockdowns as a small hobby project, driven by curiosity and a love for gin. What began as experimenting at home quickly turned into something bigger when friends and neighbours kept asking for more bottles. Encouraged by their enthusiasm, the hobby grew into our distillery — rooted in community, craftsmanship, and a genuine passion for making great gin."
