Brecon Special Reserve Gin Review & Tasting Notes
About Brecon Special Reserve Gin
Brecon Special Reserve Gin was launched in 2001 and was the first gin to be developed by Penderyn Distillery, best known for its whiskey, and is third-party distilled before being delivery to Wales for the final stages of production. The gin features barley spirit and water from Brecon Beacons National Park, as well as 10 largely traditional botanicals sourced from around the world. These include Chinese cassia bark, Sri Lankan liqourice and Italian orris root. In 2011, Brecon Special Reserve Gin was award the Gold 'Best in Class' award at the International Wine and Spirits Competition. The Gin Guide says... Brecon Special Reserve Gin was created as a product for Penderyn Distillery to make and sell alongside their whiskey as it was maturing, and they have delivered a well balanced and flavourful gin that is a stand-out product in its own right. With a classic list of 10 botanicals sourced from around the world, it's a clearly juniper-led gin with spice balanced out nicely with citrus. Available for around £20, it's an extremely good value gin. You Might Also Like... Try Brecon Botanicals Gin or for another Welsh gin try Da Mhile Botanical Gin |
