Cape Craft Lab
Cape Craft Lab was launched in Cape Town in 2023 by Alex Walker and Matthew Beech with the aim to establish a distillery and sensory lab dedicated to capturing and showcasing the essences of the region, from the botanicals to the culture and stories. The distillery is home to a 500L stainless steel boiler with a copper column and in 2025 Cape Craft Lab's African Dry Gin was named 'Best in Africa 2025' in The Gin Guide Awards.

Cape Craft Lab African Dry Gin (43% ABV)

  • The Gin Guide Awards: Winner - Best in Africa 2025 
  • Botanicals: 14 botanicals including juniper, coriander seeds, pink peppercorns, cape jasmine, pelargonium, African wormwood, confetti bush, wild rosemary, naartjie, mountain anise buchu, lemon buchu, lemon zest.  Base Spirit: Sugar Cane.
  • Serving Suggestion: Gin & Tonic with a garnish of naartjie or lemon, or in a Martini or Negroni.
  • Tasting Notes: Aromas of florals and woody spice, with juniper and citrus. Green and piney juniper and bright lemon notes on the palate with peppery florals. Tingling peppery spice leads into a warm finish with lingering notes of citrus and florals.
The Gin Guide Review: Cape Craft Lab's African Dry Gin combines florals and woody spice with juniper and citrus, delivering freshness, vibrancy, and depth of flavour. The nose is aromatic and inviting with perfumed florals, bright notes of citrus, and green notes of juniper. The palate is balanced and well-rounded with piney juniper and an enjoyable combination of florals and lemon, together with tingling peppery spice which leads into the warming finish.
