Caspyn Cornish Dry Gin Review & Tasting Notes
About Caspyn Gin
Caspyn Cornish Dry Gin was the first gin to be launched by Pocketful of Stones Distillery, based in Long Rock near Penzance in Cornwall. The gin is inspired by the Cornish spring and Cornwall's landscapes and surrounding environment. To deliver on this, botanicals include hibiscus, gorse and citrus, as well as Japanese tea. The gin is distilled in-house small batches by founder Shaun Bebington using two copper pot stills and a traditional process. Discover the wonderful and amusing story behind the name in The Gin Guide's interview with Caspyn Gin founder Shaun Bebington.
The Gin Guide says... Caspyn Gin is a beautifully fresh and invigorating blend of juniper, floral and citrus flavours. To taste, the hibiscus takes a lead role alongside the diverse selection of citrus botanicals (including lemon peel, orange peel, bergamot and lemon grass) which delivers a finish that is reminiscent of sherbert and orange blossom. Distiller Shaun Bebington's inspiration of crisp, fresh Cornish spring mornings certainly shines through. If you take a sip and close your eyes, you can happily picture yourself sat on a blustery Cornish beach. Caspyn Gin makes a distinct and refreshing gin and tonic, ideal for a summer's day, and is best served with twist of orange peel. - Reviewer: Paul Jackson - 2017 You Might Also Like... Meet the Maker"In the gin I have tried to capture the Cornish spring in a bottle. Not only by using fresh and local ingredients but also by using those flavours that remind me of my childhood."
