Castle Gate Strawberry & Lavender Gin - Review & Tasting Notes
About Castle Gate Gin
Launched in 2018, Castle Gate Strawberry and Lavender Gin is the sequel to Castle Gate Classic Gin and was driven by local demand for a fruit-led, flavoured gin. Castle Gate Gin is the creation of the 5th generation of the family to run Weavers of Nottingham, the city's oldest independent wine and spirits merchant. In the 1800s, No.1 Castle Gate in Nottingham was the site of a lively bar and it is now home to Weavers of Nottingham and is the source of the gin's name. Distilled by the esteemed Union Distillers, the gin features acorns from nearby Sherwood Forest alongside a core of classic gin botanicals, before being infused with strawberries and lavender after distillation. |
The Gin Guide Review
Castle Gate Strawberry and Lavender Gin is bold, sweet and intensely fruity with foral character. The deep pink colour is appealing and tempting, and while juniper takes a back seat, it mixes very well with elderflower tonic for a very drinkable and summery serving. - Paul Jackson, 2019 |

MEET THE MAKERS"The unique element is our use of acorns which have been foraged by myself and the family in Sherwood Forest and the shires of Central England. We then peel, dry and grind the acorns down for use in the distillation."
