Conker Gin Review & Tasting Notes
About
Conker Spirit was founded in 2014 by Rupert Holloway, who traded in a career as a chartered surveyor to learn about and pursue creating a new gin; the Dorset Dry. Produced in Dorset's first gin distillery, Conker Gin is distilled in-house in 30 litre copper pot stills using a combination of 10 traditional and local botanicals. With New Forest spring water, the local botanicals include New Forest gorse flowers, elderberries and samphire to contribute sweet, fresh and bitter elements to the gin. With no conkers involved in the gin making, the name 'Conker' comes from a serendipitous single word text message that Rupert received on declaring his intentions to leave his secure job and pursue his passion. The Gin Guide says... Conker Gin is smooth and light, with citrus and floral notes balancing wonderfully and with no one botanical overpowering the others. Having started from scratch and finally selected the 38th variation of the gin, Rupert Holloway has put a major focus on quality and this shines through and has proven successful as he is also now a respected entrepreneur and regularly speaks at business events. - Reviewer: Paul Jackson - 2015 You Might Also Like...
