Cotton Gin - Review & Tasting Notes
About Cotton Gin
Launched in 2020, Otterbeck Distillery's Cotton Gin is a London Dry Gin inspired the Yorkshire Dales surrounding the distillery and featuring a number of locally foraged botanicals. The distillery is in a historic 18th century cotton mill on the River Aire and is home to their 450 litre Carl still from Germany. Inspired by the buildings history the gin is named after the 'cotton gin' - an 18th century machine used for separating cotton fibres from their seeds. |
The Gin Guide Review
Cotton Gin is light, smooth and vibrant. It delivers earthy, piney and peppery juniper notes combined with subtly sweet citrus and greet herbal notes. The herbal notes give a lively freshness without being mentholic and is skilfully balanced with the gentle citrus sweetness and piney juniper, with a peppery wave bringing in the finish. With the addition of tonic it is well balanced and delicate, with the citrus notes being lifted and herbal character lingering. Lemon peel or rosemary make for ideal garnish starting points. - Paul Jackson, 2020 |
