Country Market Gin - Review & Tasting Notes
About Country Market Gin
Country Market Gin was launched in 2020 by the Ribble Valley Gin Company, based in Longridge in Lancashire, England. The gin is inspired by garden vegetable patches and traditional country markets and innovatively features botanicals including tomatoes, carrots, sweet shallots and beetroot. It is distilled in an 83 litre still in a stone outhouse originally built in 1888 to house livestock. |
The Gin Guide Review
Country Market Gin is a unique and experimental gin that explores the use of vegetables and savoury flavours in gin. It instantly brings to mind vegetable stalls, vegetable patches and allotments. When neat it is savoury and vegetal on the nose and palate with depth from subtle sweet notes, peppery spice and herbaceous basil and thyme which carry through into the lingering finish. With tonic, the savoury and vegetal flavour profile holds true and it is with a garnish that it really finds its place. With just a slither of lime zest you're given the brightness and sweetness that balances with the savoury flavours of the gin and makes for a characterful and distinctive G&T. - Paul Jackson, 2020 |

Meet the Makers
"Our distillery is a stone outhouse built in 1888 and originally used as a piggery. With it having so much history and standing for over 130 years we really wanted to keep as many original features as possible."
