About De Havilland Gin
Hiru Bathija, a pilot, launched De Havilland Gin in 2021, inspired by the first commercial jet flight which saw a De Havilland DH106 fly from London to Johannesburg in 1952. In tribute to this historic flight the gin features a combination of British and South African botanicals, including Buchu, Lion's Tail and Devil's Claw. |

The Gin Guide Review
De Havilland Gin is a distinctive, characterful and eclectic gin, bringing together juniper, bittersweet citrus, delicate florals, earthy spice, dry herbaceous notes and the freshness of cucumber in a showcase of British and South African botanicals. The contrasts of these destinations and flavours is highlighted as fresh cucumber intermingles with herbaceous, peppery spice in the finish before lingering floral notes. With Tonic Water, the cucumber, orange and elderflower freshness is elevated further and underpinned by juniper, herbs and gentle spice. - Paul Jackson, 2021 |
Meet the Makers
"During the first COVID lockdown I found myself enjoying the vast range of craft gins available in the UK and decided to create my own! As an airline pilot I wanted to focus my gin around the glamour of vintage aviation and so the De Havilland Gin brand was born. The De Havilland Comet was the first ever commercial jetliner and on its maiden voyage it flew from London to Johannesburg. To celebrate this achievement I used 9 botanicals from England and South Africa to create this unique craft gin." - Hiru Bathija, Founder
