Elemental Distillers
Elemental Distillers was established in 2017 by Ben Leggett and Simon Kelly, following decades of combined experience in the drinks industry. Based in Marlborough, in the heart of New Zealand's world-renowned wine region, Elemental Distillers launched Roots Gin in 2019. The name is inspired by a combination of Ben returning to his New Zealand roots after 14 years in the UK spirits industry, and their focus on traceability for all the ingredients and processes. Now a BCorp Certified producer, Elemental Distillers produce, bottle and package all of their products on-site in their tailor-made container distillery, which is home to their 200L hybrid still and Rotovap. Alongside Macedonian Juniper, the botanicals in Roots Gin are sourced in New Zealand through working closely with independent farmers, foragers and cooperatives. 

Roots Marlborough Dry Gin (45% ABV)

  • Botanicals: 6 botanicals including juniper, coriander seeds, organic hops, gorse flowers, grapefruit zest, kawakawa fruit. Base Spirit: Whey.
  • Serving Suggestion: Gin & Tonic with a garnish of Lime, or in a Martini or Negroni.
  • Tasting Notes: Aromas of juniper, gorse and citrus zest. Juniper-forward on the palate, with fresh grapefruit, hops, and notes of soft kawakawa pepper and gorse.
