**** PRESS RELEASE FROM PROCERA GIN ****African-made Procera Gin is proud to continue its celebration of the terroir of Africa with the release of Red Dot Gin 2023. Like all other gins within the Procera portfolio, Red Dot is crafted from fresh – never dried – equatorial juniper. Remarkably, this limited edition gin only uses juniper berries from a single tree, a tree judged to be amongst the best from the entire harvest of 2023.
Representing the 4th Edition of Red Dot, Procera’s 2023 expression has led with the same bold style as its predecessors, whilst incorporating a couple of exciting changes. Firstly a 19th botanical has been added to the original 18 botanical recipe in the form of Poivre Sauvage, which is a rare and fragrant pepper not dissimilar to Sichuan Pepper. Sourced from Madagascar, and also known as Madagascan Wild Pepper, Poivre Sauvage imparts an additional level of spice and depth to the latest Red Dot release, and makes its presence clearly evident through a heightened intensity of aroma and a more elevated mid-palate. Poivre Sauvage was found to make an impactful difference to the 2023 release, complementing other staple Procera Red Dot botanicals such as Oyster Shells, Seaweed, Myrrh, Locust Bean, Mukombero and, of course, fresh African Juniper, to name but a few. The Oyster Shells and Seaweed were also slightly dialed up for this vintage, exuding a gorgeously disarming impact on the nose but not the palate. In addition to the inclusion of a new botanical, for the first time Procera has sourced berries from the Kenyan highland region of Narok, located on the road to the famed Masai Mara from Nairobi. These berries grow at an even higher altitude in a different area to previous years, and are situated at a staggering 2,600m above sea level. This region was singled out following rigorous juniper taste tests which lead to a final selection team camping trip, where Narok was deemed to yield berries of particularly exceptional intensity, depth of flavour and overall complexity. These best in class berries, from the 2023 vintage, were carefully hand-harvested, and transported immediately back to Nairobi to preserve ultimate freshness, where they were distilled with the 18 other Red Dot botanicals. Only 2,023 bottles will be available across the globe, making Red Dot 2023 an incredibly limited edition and collectable release. In addition, Red Dot has already received a highly coveted Gold Medal at the renowned International Spirits Challenge (ISC) where judges were impressed with its balance, poise and individuality. Availability: From the 2,023 bottles produced, 180 x 70cl will be allocated to the UK. Buy Online: via Master of Malt. Comments are closed.
