Xedequa Spirits
Launched in 2021, Xedequa Spirits is based in the ancient port city of Trieste in north east Italy. Founder Stefania spent two years developing the recipe for Ginterior Old Tom Gin, which has been inspired by ingredients found locally in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region. The name 'Xedequa' derives from the Egyptian word 'Zed' meaning 'presence' and the Latin word 'aequa', meaning 'equal', reflecting Stefania's aim to represent all parts of the Friuli Venezia Giulia region. The Gin Guide Review: Ginterior from Xedequa brings something different to the Italian Gin market. While, coastal botanicals and traditional Italian herbal botanicals have rightly been well explored by many producers, Ginterior showcases the peaches, cherries and honey of the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region of Italy which borders Austria and Slovenia. It is not an 'Old Tom' by traditional definitions, rather a contemporary, fruity and characterful gin with gentle honey sweetness - it will appeal to those who enjoy a Flavoured Gin but who don't like the heavy sweetness of many Flavoured Gins on the market. You are greeted by unmistakable and vibrant aromas of peachy stone fruit, which are joined on the palate by cherry and honey notes, as well as underlying peppery green notes and a little earthiness. With Tonic Water, Ginterior delivers a lovely balance of bright peach, deep and rich cherry, gentle florals and subtly sweet honey for a thoroughly enjoyable and summery G&T. - Paul Jackson, 2022
