Gipsy Moth IV Gin
|
Launched in 2025, Gipsy Moth IV Gin celebrates the Gipsy Moth IV yacht - the first ever purpose-built ocean racing yacht, sailed by Sir Francis Chichester’s on his record breaking voyage around the world in 1966-67 on which he completed the first circumnavigation from Plymouth. Now one of the most famous small sailing vessels, Gipsy Moth IV was purchased by Simon Oberholzer from the Netherlands in 2022 and he is managing the restoration to her original 1967 state. Gipsy Moth IV Gin is distilled at the historic ODB Distillery in Schiedam, founded in 1658, and features classic botanicals including juniper, angelica root, coriander seeds, and liquorice root. Shortly after launching, Gipsy Moth IV Gin was named as a Winner in the Traditional Gin category of The Gin Guide Awards 2025.

Gipsy Moth IV: The Yacht
|
Gipsy Moth IV was built as the first ever purpose-built ocean racing yacht, designed for Sir Francis Chichester’s record breaking voyage around the world in 1966-67. At the age of 65, Sir Francis, while battling cancer, became the first person to complete a circumnavigation from Plymouth, England, racing 29,630 miles in 226 days and rounding all the Great Capes onboard Gipsy Moth IV.
Beating all previous records of the great tea clippers, Gipsy Moth IV has over the years become the most famous of small sailing vessels, having survived countless storms, the Cape Horn, near capsize from giant waves, and being grounded on a merciless reef in Tahiti. Visited by more than a million visitors in Greenwich alone, Gipsy Moth IV has captivated imaginations, from royalty, heads of state, great sailors, and mariners, to all others who have seen her or been aboard. |
