Grasmere Distillery
|
Grasmere Distillery was launched in 2022 in the Lake District as an expansion of Grasmere Brewery. The brewery was established in 2018 by local resident Paul Abbott alongside their tap room, The Good Sport. Grasemere Distillery is a 'grain-to-glass' distillery, making their own base spirit from sugarbeet rather than using bought--in Neutral Grain Spirit as is typical in the industry. With this they produce Grasmere Dry Gin, sugarbeet vodka and English single malt whisky. The distillery is home to a 1,000L copper pot still, a 500L copper pot still, and a 500L still with a reflex column for making vodka, and is open for tours and tastings.

Meet the Maker
"We are a tiny grain-to-glass distillery, making English single malt whisky, classic dry gin, and sugarbeet vodka. We make all of our own alcohol from scratch, rather than buying industrial Neutral Grain Spirit. We blend traditional distillation on copper pot stills with adventurous techniques from our brewery roots, and all our energy for distilling is 100% renewable and comes from recycling used vegetable oil from our tap room." - Paul Abbott, Founder & Distiller
