Green Genie Spirits
Green Genie Gin was launched in 2019 by Steve Scutt, inspired by his travels in China, the Middle East, and many countries along the ancient Silk Road trade route. It was during a business meeting to discuss a green tea drink that the idea of making the tea with cold water was mooted and that sparked discussions with Steve’s business partner, Andrew, about whether the tea could be added to gin to make a unique flavoured spirit. Together with Black Bridge Distillers, they developed Green Genie Gin with botanicals from the Silk Road routes and green tea. The name 'Green Genie' was also inspired by Steve’s travels around the Middle East, particularly a visit to a Bedouin tented village in the south of Egypt where tales of the magical ‘djinn’ or genie were told. |

The Gin Guide Review: Instantly on the nose you can sense the richness and distinctiveness of the molasses base compared to a grain base, joined by notes of lemony citrus and green tea. On the palate, Green Genie Gin is smooth, full bodied and bittersweet as the ginseng, green tea and sweet citrus notes combine. The buttery, herbal character of the green tea pairs very neatly with the character of the base spirit too. With Tonic Water, a touch more of the orange citrus notes emerge, and you can excentuate either side of this gin's balanced personality using garnishes - highlighting the earthy, herbal character with a garnish such as thyme, or the bright, summery citrus character with a garnish such as lemon. - Paul Jackson, 2022

Meet the Makers
"It was while on trips journeying around the Middle East, including Egypt, Turkey, Greece and Iran that my curiosity was aroused by tales of the ancient Silk Road trade route. Having visited Shanghai and many of the countries along this fabled road and, as part of my philosophy of trying all local food and drink, I savoured the diverse flavours of some of the exotic ingredients traded along the Silk Road, such as Orris root, Coriander and Ginseng among others." - Founder, Steve Scutt
