About Helsinki Gin
Helsinki Gin is the first spirit to be produced by the Helsinki Distilling Company, founded by a trio of Fins who have been friends for over 20 years. The distillery opened in 2014 and is the first distillery in Helsinki since prohibition in Finland between 1919 - 1932. Helsinki Gin features Finnish lingonberries and rose petals alongside traditional botanicals, and the gin delivers fruity, floral and foresty flavours. The gin is not chill filtered (which is increasingly common) and so has the characteristic of appearing cloudy when diluted with water or tonic as the oils re-emerge. The Gin Guide says... Helsinki Gin has a definite Scandinavian feel to it, from the branding through to the pine and foresty flavours that come to the fore alongside the lingonberries. And it is an excellent gin for making Martinis. This is another fine example of how the Scandinavian craft spirits industry has started to flourish in recent years, and whilst Helsinki Distilling Co has plans to now produce whiskey and a range of other spirits, they've made a very strong start with Helsinki Dry Gin.
