The Gin Guide Review
Hotspur Gin combines juniper and a core of earthy botanicals with fruity and floral botanicals. There's some contrast between the fruity and floral flavours and the stocky, robust bottle yet it feels very fitting of the Medieval inspirations. The bilberries bring bittersweet fruitiness which harmonises with grapefruit and rich orange peel as well as fragrant and floral rose and heather. The finish has a kick of pink pepper before orange, coriander seeds and florals deliver length. Adding a dash of tonic elevates the grapefruit, fruitiness and the grassy floral hint of heather, and a garnish of blueberries or strawberries makes for an ideal garnish starting point. - Paul Jackson, 2020 |
