Indiginous Gin - Review & Tasting Notes
About Indiginous Gin
Launched in 2019, Indiginous was created by friends Simon Wilson and Chris Charteris. Simon was previously a dentist and Chris was a cheesemaker and accountant, and they produce their gin at their distillery in the Reikorangi Valley on New Zealand's Kapiti Coast. Simon and Chris also ferment their own alcohol, which is then distilled in an 8-plate column still to create the base for the gin. The Gin Guide Review Indiginous Gin is pleasingly distinctive and charming, with an abundance of sweet citrus. Lemon and orange flesh and peel stand out alongside cinnamon on the nose and palate, with underlying earthy notes and a finish that reveals liquorice and orris root. It's a bright and moreish gin with a light mouthfeel and a short but flavoursome finish. The evident quality of the base spirit combines with a more rustic feel to the botanical distillation, making for a very characterful and enjoyable gin. Ideal served as a gin and tonic with a garnish of mint or orange. - Paul Jackson, 2019 |

MEET THE MAKER"The inspiration for Indiginous Gin come from our first attempt at distilling where we were making our alcohol from scratch. We were given a botanicals recipe from a home brewer and I read Simon the recipe totally wrong."
