Inverroche Classic Gin - Review & Tasting Notes
Inverroche is a family-run business launched by Lorna Scott in 2011 with a range of 3 gins. Each of these gins aims to tell a story of a different region of the Cape Floral Kingdom in South Africa, which is home to over 9,500 species of plants and vegetation. The name 'Inverroche' is inspired by the Scott family’s Celtic and Gaelic ancestry. The Scottish word “Inver” means a confluence of water and refers to where the Goukou River and the Indian Ocean meet, and the French word “roche” means rock/stone and refers to the limestone that defines the landscape of the Cape Floral Kingdom.

The Gin Guide Review
Inverroche Classic Gin is clean and smooth, combining a core of piney juniper and traditional earthy gin botanicals, with fruity citrus and delicate floral notes. When neat, the gin is fragrant with floral aromas and notes of earthy spice, and on the palate it is crisp and classic with earthiness, citrus and gentle florals. The mid-dry finish lingers with the arrival of coriander seeds, cassia and soft spice. With tonic, the piney juniper and brighter citrus notes are brought to life with impressive balance alongside hints of cardamom and cassia. At it's heart, Inverroche Classic Gin is very satisfyingly fitting of its 'Classic' title, while the delicate use of native botanicals neatly connects it with its source and story. - Paul Jackson, 2020 |
