Manly Spirits Lilly Pilly Pink Gin
About Manly Spirits Gin
The distillery was founded by husband and wife team David (a former chemical engineer) and Vanessa (a former marketer) who are both Manly locals, alongside Head Distiller Tim Stones who was previously the Global Brand Ambassador for Beefeater Gin. The gin is distilled in-house in Holstein copper pot stills that were bespoke designed in collaboration with the founder, David Whittaker, who inputted his experience as a chemical engineer and has named a still after each of his children. The Gin Guide Review The gin market has seen an influx of sickly sweet 'pink gins' which have been hugely popular but have also gained the sub-category a mixed reputation in terms of the quality and sugar content of the spirits. This has prompted distillers to introduce high quality, drier and more complex pink gins, and Manly Spirits have found a not-so-sweet sweet spot with Lilly Pilly Pink Gin. Juniper is clearly evident on the nose and palate, accompanied by raspberry and fruity berry notes, subtle florals, blood orange, lime and earthy undertones. The balance of traditional and contemporary characteristics is executed beautifully with a wash of fruitiness before a drier finish. Lilly Pilly Pink Gin is summery, flavoursome, refreshing and high quality - a welcome very addition to the pink gin sub-category - Paul Jackson, 2020 |
