Massingberd-Mundy Distillery
Massingberd-Mundy Distillery was established in 2020 at the historic South Ormsby Estate in the Lincolnshire Wolds. Inspired by the landscape and heritage of the estate, the distillery is home to a 150L bespoke copper pot still and combines traditional small-batch distilling techniques with botanicals and flavour profiles influenced by the surrounding countryside and gardens. The brand draws on the history of the Massingberd-Mundy family and the wider character of the Lincolnshire Wolds with each gin designed to tell a story, including Burrell's Gin inspired by Charles Burrell Massingberd who became the owner of the estate in 1802, and Marie Jeanne's Pink Gin inspired by Marie Jeanne Rapigeon whose influence helped shape the estate’s history.​

Burrell's Dry Gin (43% ABV)

  • Botanicals: 14 botanicals including juniper, coriander seeds, angelica root, orris root, liquorice root, cassia bark, cubebs, bay leaves, elderflower blossom, lemon peel, lime peel, orange peel, apricot kernels, dried apples. Base Spirit; Grain.​
  • Serving Suggestion: Gin & Tonic with a garnish of Orange and Black Pepper, or in a Citrus Spritz.
  • TGG Tasting Notes: Aromas of fragrant juniper, citrus and elderflower, with earthy and peppery notes. Smooth, crisp and light on the palate with juniper, citrus peels, apple and elderflower. Peppery notes on the finish with citrus, coriander seeds, cassia and lingering bay.
The Gin Guide Review: Burrell's Gin is smooth, crisp and light, bringing together a classic core with contemporary rural botanicals. It is fragrant and enticing on the nose with juniper, citrus peels, floral elderflower and underlying earthiness and peppery notes. On the palate, fruity apple and elderflower are well paired and the finish sees peppery notes, cassia, citrus fruits and coriander seeds emerge further, as well as a lingering herbaceous note of bay. With the addition of tonic it is light, fruity and floral, with gentle citrus, earthy soft spice and juniper. Marie Jeanne's Pink Gin (43% ABV)

  • Botanicals: 15 botanicals including juniper, coriander seeds, angelica root, orris root, liquorice root, cassia bark, pink peppercorns, hibiscus flowers, cranberries, limes, raspberries, strawberries, cranberry sauce, raspberry jam, strawberry jam. Base Spirit; Grain.​
  • Serving Suggestion: Gin & Tonic or with Lemonade, garnished with Raspberries or Lime, or in a Pink Gin Spritz.
  • TGG Tasting Notes: Aromas of fruity raspberry and strawberry, with floral hibiscus. Vibrant strawberry and raspberry on the palate, with lime zest, hibiscus and pink pepper. A finish of fry cranberry and pink peppercorn notes, with lingering fruitiness.
 The Gin Guide Review: ​Marie Jeanne's Pink Gin is vibrant and fruity, balanced with a traditional core and layers of contemporary botanicals. It's an impressive example of the new breed of 'pink gins' that are drier and give more prominence to classic gin characteristics. On the nose it is boldly fruity with strawberries, raspberries and floral hibiscus. On the palate it is deeply flavoursome with strawberry and raspberry, but also a dry note of cranberry, zesty lime peel, floral hibiscus and spicy pink peppercorns which give depth, complexity and balance. It's this that sets it apart as not just being a one dimensional fruit gin. "Using as many locally sourced botanicals as possible, 100% of our gin is distilled, bottled and packed at our purpose-built Distillery in the heart of the Lincolnshire Wolds, on our 3,000-acre Estate.. Each of our artisan gins is inspired by a different person of local and national historical interest; namely, Charles Burrell Massingberd, a former Squire of South Ormsby Estate and his wife Marie Jeanne Rapigeon, who for reasons unknown had to flee France and fell in love with our Lincolnshire Squire.​"
