NB Gin Review & Tasting Notes
About NB Gin
NB Gin was launched in 2013 in North Berwick, Scotland. Husband and wife Steve and Viv Muir were previously both lawyers before constructing a homemade, makeshift still in their kitchen and beginning the familiar quest to develop the 'perfect' gin. In 2011 the Muirs obtained a distilling license and purchased their first still, which was subsequently followed with a custom-built still and setting up their own distillery site. After hundreds of test batches, the result is a 42% ABV London Dry gin made in-house using grain spirit and 8 traditional botanicals including grains of paradise and lemon peel. Find out more in The Gin Guide's 'Meet the Maker' interview with Viv Muir.
The Gin Guide Review NB Gin is a classic, traditional London Dry Gin of the highest quality. It is dry, juniper-led and smooth with a long finish. There are no gimmicks or unusual botanicals, and no striking branding to stand out in the market - the Muirs want the gin to speak for itself, and it certainly does. With a market of gins largely striving to do something different, NB Gin stands out by creating a London Dry Gin in the finest fashion - and it is ideal for a G&T or a Martini. You Might Also Like... Meet the Maker"It started as a small space with a table, and our filling process was a glass jug and a team of family helpers. When we launched we had no idea what was going to happen."
