Duh u Boci Distillery
|
Launched in 2018, Old Pilot's Gin is a London Dry style gin produced with an iStill at the Duh u Boci ('The Spirit in the Bottle') Distillery in Zagreb, Croatia. The botanicals are sourced from certified Croatian herb growers and the entire production process is carried out in-house at the distillery. The name 'Old Pilot's Gin' refers to the owners and co-founders of the Duh u Boci Distillery, Hrvoje Busic and Tomislav Anadolac, as they are friends who met when they were training at the Croatian Air Force Academy. |

The Gin Guide Review
Old Pilot's Gin captures two sides of Croatian and Mediterranean flavours with vibrant orange citrus alongside herbaceous and savoury notes of sage and olive leaves, while juniper is prominent and lavender also has a delicate cameo. It is this contrast of bright orange and plentiful savoury and earthy flavours that takes the limelight and makes Old Pilot's Gin pleasingly distinctive and memorable. With the addition of Tonic Water, peppery juniper is elevated further and an orange garnish is ideal. It is a gin with character and a sense of place that also makes for a charming Martini and pairs beautifully with Mediterranean foods. - Paul Jackson, 2021 |
Old Pilot's Barrel Aged Gin
Using a variation of the Old Pilot’s Gin recipe, the Barrel Aged edition is rested in 5 different barrels, including Croatian oak (imparting dry fruit and bittersweet notes) and American oak (imparting sweetness, vanilla and smokey notes), each with varying levels of charring. The gin is bottled at 45.4% ABV.

Meet the Makers
"The famous Croatian juniper berries were rarely used in Croatia. Our goal was to produce gin using both the famous juniper berries that grow on the border of the Mediterranean and Continental climate and also other Croatian botanicals." - Hrvoje Busic, Co-Founder
