Seven Crofts Fisherman's Strength Gin - Review & Tasting Notes
Seven Crofts Fisherman's Strength Gin
Seven Crofts Fisherman's Strength Gin was launched in 2020 by The Highland Liquor Co, based in Ullapool on the shores of Loch Broom in the Scottish Highlands. Now home to 1,500 people, the village of Ullapool was established in the late 1700s as a fishing village and originally consisted of seven dwellings, and the Seven Crofts name pays homage to this. Founders Robert Hicks and Helen Chalmers began planning The Highland Liquor Co in 2014 and tested 96 combinations to reach the final recipe for Seven Crofts Gin, which is distilled in 100L stills by Head Distiller Ben Thompson who joined the team in 2018. |
The Gin Guide Review
Seven Crofts Fisherman's Strength is deceptively smooth and light at 57% ABV and is calling out to be used in classic gin cocktails. It is aromatic on the nose with deep notes earthy juniper, cardamom and lemon peel, before an impressively smooth and soft mouthfeel. Cubeb and pink peppercorn spice builds from on the palate and lingers in the long finish with lemon peel and coriander seeds. With the addition of tonic, the aromas of cardamom and cubeb are elevated, and it makes for a light and classic G&T with orange peel being an ideal garnish starting point. - Paul Jackson, 2020 |
