Three Wrens Gin - Bison Grass Edition: Review & Tasting Notes
About Three Wrens Gin - Bison Grass
Three Wrens Cheshire Distillery was launched in 2019 and is located opposite Cholmondeley Castle. Founder Nick Wadeson launched the distillery to realise a lifelong dream after gaining 20 years of experience in the drinks and spirits industry as a cocktail bartender and also a sales and brand manager for global gin brands. With three people involved in the distillery, all hailing from Wrenbury in Cheshire, this was the inspiration for the Three Wrens name. |
The Gin Guide Review
To our knowledge and theirs, Three Wrens Bison Grass Edition is the first gin to be distilled with Bison Grass, and it certainly shows that it has been an overlooked botanical. On the nose the gin is crisp, clean and enticing with fresh hay notes, lemongrass and citrus. The mouthfeel is smooth and light and on the palate there's a balance of savoury notes and sweetness as the bison grass, citrus botanicals and herbaceous botanicals intermingle. The finish is similarly crisp and light with a lingering herbal note from apple mint which completes the flavour journey that is evocative of the hay filled meadows of summer. Classic and Elderflower Tonics pair particularly well with this gin and apple or lemon are ideal garnish starting points. - Paul Jackson, 2020 |

Meet the Maker
"I’ve basically lived and breathed gin recipes, botanicals and various methods of distilling, steeping, macerating and blending ever since we started, and I think that commitment has helped us get off to a flying start, which I am really proud of." - Founder & Distiller, Nick Wadeson
