Fallstein Destillerie is a family business which has existed for over 200 years. It is named after the town of Rohrsheim Aue-Fallstein in northern Germany where the distillery is located. Historically focused on small scale production for the local market using wheat and botanicals grown on the family's farm, in 2009 the Fallstein team decided to begin marketing their organic spirits across Germany. Tommys Gin was subsequently launched and is named after Thomas, the grandson of the distillery's owner. Following 4 days of macerations, the gin is distilled in an Kothe Pot & Column still with the citrus botanicals held in an aroma basket.
Tasting Notes: Fragrant, fresh aromas of mint, apple, cucumber and citrus. A palate of peppery juniper and citrus alongside apple and hints of fresh cucumber. A refreshing finish of mint, orange peel and peppery cubebs.
Serving Suggestion / Garnish: Gin & Tonic with a garnish of orange peel, or in a Martini or Gimlet.
The Gin Guide Review: Tommys Gin is fragrant, contemporary and fresh, combining refreshing apple, cucumber and mint with deep notes of juniper, orange peel and cubebs. Mint is also has a prominent, being vibrant on the nose and clean and mentholic on the finish. With Tonic Water, the flavour profile is pleasingly upheld, with light and bright top notes balanced with body and bite from juniper, cubebs and bittersweet citrus. Tommys Gin is charming, characterful and distinctive while still being anchored to a core of classic botanicals. - Paul Jackson, 2022
