Tumbledown Distillery
|
Falkland Islands Whisky's Tumbledown Distillery was established in 2021 by Falklands resident and Falklands War veteran Taff Davies, alongside Saul Pitaluga, and John Hellowell who lived on the Falkland Islands for 6 years and still owns a private island there that is maintained as a nature reserve. One of the world's southernmost distilleries, Tumbledown Distillery is named after Mount Tumbledown - a 230m high landmark which became a key strategic site in the 1982 Falklands War. Mount Tumbledown is also the water source for the distillery's Falklands Islands Gin, which is distilled in a 70L reflux still and features fresh native botanicals such as scurvy grass. Having initially produced gin for the local and tourist markets in the Falkland Islands, Falkland Islands Spirits was established in 2025 with a distribution office on the Isle of Man, and with the gin being shipped from the Falklands Islands with the Royal Fleet Auxiliary to make their gin available in Britain.

Meet the Makers

"Tumbledown Gin is micro-distilled at the edge of the world for those who seek the rare, the wild, the extraordinary. It is infused with the essence of a land untouched – the crisp bite of mountain streams running cold through peat and stone; moss-soft tundra breathing beneath lichen-clad rock; the green snap of wind-twisted herbs; a landscape where untamed nature, laced in salt air, reigns free.." - Founders, Taff Davies, John Hellowell and Saul Pitaluga
