Vicars Gin - Review & Tasting Notes
Vicars Gin
Vicars Gin was launched in 2019 by Naomi Joy and is currently distilled by Union Distillers in Market Harborough, with ambitions to bring distillation to her family's home at Oakhampton Estate. The 2,000+ acre estate was established by the Crane family in 1827 when Henry Crane chose the fertile land in Dunley to settle on & farm. The family, now seven generations on, continues to own the estate and has set aside a small proportion of the land to grow botanicals including coriander seeds and orris root. Plans are also in place to grow juniper in years to come. The Vicars Gin name is in honour of Naomi's father who has been a vicar for over 50 years. |
The Gin Guide Review
Vicars Gin shows off the experience of Mark Gamble at Union Distillers, with depth of flavour and a rounded, moreish and smooth mouthfeel. On the nose and palate there are well-balanced herbal, floral, citrus and sweet notes layered on a classic core of piney juniper, orris root, angelica root and coriander seeds. While being a very new entrant to the market, Vicars Gin is an enjoyable and high quality spirit that is the ideal start to the planned journey to bring elements of botanical growing and production to Worcestershire. Orange or orange peel make for a perfect garnish starting point when serving as a G&T. - Paul Jackson, 2019 |

MEET THE MAKERS"Coriander is already grown and juniper has been planted this year. I have plans to plant Norwegian Angelica and Orris Root as well in the near future. Ideally I would like to successfully harvest enough botanicals, not only for my gin production, but also to supply other gin makers" - Naomi Joy, Founder
