Wild Lion Gin

Wild Lion Gin was launched in Germany in 2022 by Joshua Weise, combining his passions for gin and lions. Distilled by Nanotrade near Frankfurt, the gin features coffee, vanilla and cocoa beans. Joshua has followed the launch of Wild Lion Gin with Wild Tonca Tonic Water.

Wild Lion Gin (40% ABV)

  • Botanicals: 12 botanicals including juniper, black pepper, rosemary, thyme, sandalwood, lemon zest, orange zest, cinnamon extract, coffee extract, bourbon vanilla extract, cocoa beans. Base Spirit: Grain.​
  • Serving Suggestion: Gin & Tonic with a garnish of Orange Peel or Cinnamon, or in an Espresso Martini.
  • Tasting Notes: Aromas of coffee, vanilla and cocoa with herbaceous undertones. Vanilla and coffee on the palate with citrus and herbaceous notes. A bittersweet finish with lingering coffee and cocoa notes.​
The Gin Guide Review: Wild Lion Gin has been awarded as a Winner in the Flavoured Gin category of The Gin Guide Awards 2024. The Judges were impressed by the innovative flavour profile featuring vanilla, cocoa and coffee, the smooth mouthfeel, and the balance of flavour. Individual Judge's comments included describing Wild Lion Gin as having ‘enticing sweet coffee and chocolate aromas’, ‘different layers of flavour bringing complexity’, and ‘a bittersweet finish leaving you with lingering earthy chocolate notes’.

Meet the Makers

"Wild Lion Gin combines all the important aspects of the lion. The design reflects the characteristics of lions being noble (golden lettering), wild and snappy (open mouth imagery and tactile scratch marks), and powerful and majestic (heavy black stoneware bottle with a golden cork). The contents impress with botanicals that come from Africa, the lion's home continent. The African cocoa bean makes up a large proportion and is therefore a main component in the gin, which is why every Wild Lion Gin bottle contains a piece of the lion's homeland." - Joshua Weise, Founder
