Cantium Gin - Review & Tasting Notes
Cantium Gin
Cantium Gin was founded by former Filmmaker Kevin Andrews from Kent and is distilled by Gorilla Spirits with botanicals including Kentish lavender, apples, blackberries, hops, cobnuts and chestnuts. The gin is bottled in flasks which can be reused for hot or cold drinks, and plans are underway to introduce a scheme whereby customers who return a Cantium Gin flask will receive a discount on their next purchase, and the returned flasks will be cleaned and distributed to homelessness charities in the UK. The name 'Cantium' is the Roman word for Kent and the logo is inspired by a Roman mosaic tile found at Lullingstone Villa. |
The Gin Guide Review
Cantium Gin is a distinctly contemporary gin, from the presentation through to the spirit. The innovative bottling in a flask is striking and holds the benefit of potential reuse, while the gin is impressively layered and complex with bold citrus, fruity, floral and savoury characters, all underpinned by soft spice and juniper. The mouthfeel is pleasingly smooth and when mixed with tonic the gin holds its flavour firmly, with notes of orange, lavender and cardamom emerging further. Orange Peel, apple or juniper make for ideal G&T garnish starting points and it pairs neatly with elderflower tonic. - Paul Jackson, 2020 |

Meet the Maker
"I was inspired by the range of gins available but I thought there was a space in the market for a small batch gin with a conscience. Not only does it need to taste great but it must have an environmental angle too." - Kevin Andrews, Founder
