Cuckoo Solace Gin - Review & Tasting Notes
About Cuckoo Solace Gin
Launched in 2019, Cuckoo Solace Gin is produced at Brindle Distillery on Holmes Farm in Lancashire and features rosemary and lemon thyme grown on the farm. It was created to help raise funds for Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust and to raise awareness of the importance of cervical screening after co-founder Mark's wife, Liz, had to fight a rare and aggressive form of cervical cancer in 2019. A percentage of of proceeds from each bottle sold are donated to Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust to help others in similar situations. |
The Gin Guide ReviewMore than just being a product with a cause, Cuckoo Solace Gin is also an engaging, characterful and high quality spirit. On the nose and palate there is plentiful juniper and bold citrus balanced with herbaceous rosemary, basil and thyme. Moving into the finish is a savoury, subtly oily note of olives alongside deep citrus notes and soft spice. The use of olives is very rare in gin and they are used subtly but to great effect in Cuckoo Solace Gin. Ice brings out further herbaceous notes and bittersweet citrus, but it is with tonic that really finds it balance - brighter notes are elevated and there is even greater harmony between the citrus and herbs. - Paul Jackson, 2020

Meet the Makers
