Granddad Jack's Green House Gin - Review & Tasting Notes
Green House Gin
Green House Gin was launched in 2018 by Granddad Jack's Craft Distillery, based in Miami in Queensland. The distillery was established by David Ridden and his son Luke Ridden who named it after David's grandfather, known as Granddad Jack. Luke is currently the youngest commercial distiller in Australia. Green House Gin is named after Granddad Jack's greenhouse as his garden was a place where neighbours and friends would come to chat and drink whisky. |
The Gin Guide Review
Green House Gin has a greatly accessible flavour profile which will have broad appeal. Lemon Myrtle, a favourite of Australian distilleries, is prominent throughout alongside the grapefruit peel which provides balance of the citrus notes. Rosehip and cucumber give floral and fresh character while the juniper presence is clear and piney. The Granddad Jack's team say that Green House Gin is a favourite with newcomers to gin and it is easy to see why this would be the case. At 37.5% it is very easy drinking and well suited to a sunny summer day, and a good starting point is to garnish your G&T with red grapefruit or cucumber. - Paul Jackson, 2019 |
