Granddad Jack's Two Pencils Gin - Review & Tasting Notes
Two Pencils Gin
Two Pencils Gin is a single-botanical gin launched in 2018 by Granddad Jack's Craft Distillery, based in Miami in Queensland. The distillery was established by David Ridden and his son Luke Ridden who named it after David's grandfather, known as Granddad Jack. Luke is currently the youngest commercial distiller in Australia. The Two Pencils Gin name is inspired by how a young Granddad Jack would buy pencils, break them in halve and sharpen them, and then sell them at Timaru Races for a profit. |
The Gin Guide Review
Two Pencils Gin is a single-botanical gin featuring juniper alone, yet delivering plenty of flavour and character. On the nose there are piney and herbal aromas, and on the palate this continues alongside more peppery notes and a dry character. It's a real contrast to Granddad Jack's Green House Gin and beautifully showcases the depth of flavour that juniper can bring itself. To bring balance to a G&T try garnishing it with cucumber. - Paul Jackson, 2019 |
