Mr Hobbs 150 Gin: Review & Tasting Notes
About Mr Hobbs 150 Gin
Mr Hobbs 150 Gin was created in 2020 by founders Jonnie and Suzy Hobbs and distiller Jamie Baggott at the British Honey Company to celebrate the 150 year anniversary of the Hobbs family business (Hobbs of Henley), before moving production to Gorilla Spirits in Hampshire in 2021 and making small adjustments to the recipe. Hobbs of Henley is a popular leisure boating company and was launched in 1870 by Harry Hobbs, a bon viveur and gin enthusiast, and his photo can be found on the bottle. |
The Gin Guide Review
Mr Hobbs 150 Gin delivers a wealth of citrus notes, peppery spice and mellow floral notes, all brought together with skilful balance as they each have their moments to shine while intermingling with each other. There's great enjoyment to be found in the range and depth of each of the key flavour profiles, with citrus notes from vibrant lemon zest and herbal lemon balm to pithier lemon peel and yuzu which unites them all, and the spice and peppery notes range from aromatic cubeb to a kick of black pepper. Cardamom, elderflower and meadowsweet offer mellow notes throughout for a complex, flavoursome and well-balanced gin with plentiful depth. - Paul Jackson, 2020 |
