Three Wrens Gin - Raspberry Edition: Review & Tasting Notes
About Three Wrens Gin - Raspberry Edition
Three Wrens Cheshire Distillery was launched in 2019 and is located opposite Cholmondeley Castle. Founder Nick Wadeson launched the distillery to realise a lifelong dream after gaining 20 years of experience in the drinks and spirits industry as a cocktail bartender and also a sales and brand manager for global gin brands. With three people involved in the distillery, all hailing from Wrenbury in Cheshire, this was the inspiration for the Three Wrens name. |
The Gin Guide Review
Three Wrens 'Modena Cask Finish' Raspberry Edition is characterful, complex and a triumph of experimentation. On the nose the initial aroma of raspberry is followed by deep, richness and leafy herbaceous notes. On the palate it comes to life further with a plethora of taste sensations - fruity raspberry sweetness, bitter cacao, savoury basil, punchy black pepper, and while intentionally not tasting of balsamic vinegar, it carries its characteristic sweet and tart notes. With the addition of tonic it is flavoursome and well-balanced as the raspberry is brightened and the pepperiness settles. Raspberry and basil make for ideal garnish starting points, and also try it in a fruity twist on a Basil Smash. - Paul Jackson, 2020 |

Meet the Maker
"I’ve basically lived and breathed gin recipes, botanicals and various methods of distilling, steeping, macerating and blending ever since we started, and I think that commitment has helped us get off to a flying start, which I am really proud of." - Founder & Distiller, Nick Wadeson
