Basalt Distillery
Basalt Distillery was established in 2021 by Martha Garbe and James Richardson, home to their iStill and located a stone's throw away from Northern Ireland's first UNESCO Heritage Site, Giants Causeway. The dramatic basalt coastline is an inspiration for their first gin, Giants Basalt Rock Gin, launched in 2022, with the water used in it having been naturally filtered through basalt rock and drawn from a 600ft borehole. |

Meet the Makers
"The Giant’s Causeway was a huge inspiration for us. Basalt rock forms the Giant’s Causeway as well as the land that our distillery is built on. The unique characteristics and porous nature of this volcanic rock creates a natural filtration process that filters the water that we draw from our 600ft borehole and use to create Giants Basalt Rock Gin. The inspiration that the North Coast of Northern Ireland has had on our product is represented by the iconic hexagonal shape of our bottle, as it reflects the stones of the Giant’s Causeway." - Founders, Martha Garbe & James Richardson
