Elemental Gin was founded in 2013 and was one of the first gins to be distilled and bottled in Cornwall for over 300 years. In 2020, on the eve of the national covid-19 lockdown, Nicki and Joe Woolley took the reins at the distillery and have introduced updated branding and bottles while maintaining the original recipe and processes. Elemental Gin is produced in the distillery at the bottom of their garden in four 40-litre traditional copper pot stills; Tenna (fire), Norvys (earth), Awel (wind) and Dowr (water). Local Cornish spring water from Bodmin Moor and a blend of 12 botanicals are combined, including local chamomile from Cornwall.
The Gin Guide Review
Elemental Cornish Gin is a classic style gin that is calling out for a G&T or a Martini. The nose is vibrant with lemon, orange, soft chamomile and earthy, piney juniper, while on the palate it is rich with oily citrus peels, subtle sweetness and warming soft spice of cardamom, cassia and cinnamon. The finish brings in peppery notes, cinnamon and bittersweet citrus character. With tonic, the piney juniper is elevated and the citrus notes brighten, with underlying soft and earthy spice.
