Elephant Gin - Review & Tasting Notes
About Elephant Gin
|
Elephant Gin was launched in 2013 and is inspired by South Africa and made in Germany. The founders created Elephant Gin, which features exotic African botanicals alongside traditional gin botanicals, following their own adventures in Africa and with a vision to help wildlife conservation trusts. With every full-size bottle sold, Elephant Gin contributes 15% of profits to elephant conservation charities including Big Life Foundation, and with each miniature bottle sold, 15% of profits are donated to Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. Elephant Gin has so far contributed over €500,000 to wildlife conservation.

The Gin Guide Review
Alongside the honourable donations to wildlife conservation in Africa, Elephant Gin is a deeply characterful, well-constructed and complex gin, with prominent classic gin characteristics accented gently, but noticeably, with African botanicals. When neat, the nose is generous and complex, with pine, herbaceous notes, earthy spice, fruity citrus and hints of florals. The mouthful is smooth, full and dry, with a freshness of pine, apple and subtle florals, together with orange peel and earthy spice. This transitions seamlessly into a finish of warming ginger, peppery spice and lingering bittersweet citrus. Adding tonic elevates the pine and floral notes on the nose as well as the deep earthy and woody characters on the palate. It's a gin with great depth, cohesion and a skilful transition of flavours, fitting of a G&T or any classic gin cocktails. - Paul Jackson, 2020 |

Meet the Makers
"Having met the people who dedicate their life to conservation is something that made me realise that we have a responsibility for the generations to come. Having been able to give over half a million euros to African elephant conservation projects over the last six years and making a difference to on the ground is something we are most proud of." - Robin Gerlach, Co-Founder
