Hendrick's Gin - Review & Tasting Notes
Hendrick's Gin
Hendrick's Gin is owned by William Grant & Sons and was created by master distiller Lesley Gracie and launched in 1999. It is produced in 500 litre batches at the Hendrick's Gin Palace in the grounds of The Girvan Distillery in Scotland. What makes Hendrick's Gin different is its prominent use of rose petals and cucumber, and its blending two separate spirits, each distilled using a different technique. One spirit is created in a 1860s Bennett pot still with botanicals steeped in the base spirit overnight before distillation, and the other spirit is produced in a 1940s Carter-Head still which steams the more delicate botanicals in a basket in the neck of the still. |
The Gin Guide Review: Whether it's the apothecary-style bottle or the sight of a Gin and Tonic garnished with a slice of cucumber, Hendrick's is a distinctive and recognisable gin that opened many people's eyes to contemporary flavour profiles in gin. Hendrick's gin's true calling is a G&T with a slice of cucumber or lime, and it should also be tried in a Gimlet cocktail. - Paul Jackson, 2016
