Mainline Spirit Company
Mainline Spirit Co was launched in 2022 by husband and wife, Rich and Terri Hudson. The distillery is located in Taunton, Somerset, in a converted poultry shed at Odbridge Farm, located next to the mainline railway between London and Penzance. With the branding and naming of their spirits being inspired by railways and steam engines, many of the botanicals used are handpicked in the countryside and hedgerows alongside the railway.

Western Star Gin

  • ​ABV: 40% (Base Spirit: Grain).
  • Botanicals: 8 including juniper, lemon, orange, meadowsweet, elderberry, raspberry leaf, blackberry leaf.
Tasting Notes: Aromas of juniper and leafy, gently fruity aromas. On the palate, piney juniper, subtle fruitiness, citrus and florals, and berry zing. A lingering finish of leafy pepperiness and herbal notes.
Serving Suggestion / Garnish: Gin & Tonic with Classic or Elderflower Tonic and a garnish of Raspberries, or in a Bramble cocktail.
The Gin Guide Review: Western Star Gin utilises the traditional London Dry process to build on classic flavour profiles with a twist of rustic countryside charm. With raspberry leaf, blackberry leaf, elderberry and meadowsweet, there's a rural hedgerow character and a fruitiness and leafiness that deliver herbal, floral, zingy and peppery subtleties. With Tonic Water, the flavours are delicate and hold true to the neat spirit, with lingering subtly sweet fruit notes, making for a G&T with personality and a sense of the British countryside. - Paul Jackson, 2022
