Old Well Distillery
|
Located in a refurbished well house in northeastern Germany's Mecklenburgische Seenplatte region, Old Well Distillery launched Old Well Gin in 2020. Old Well Gin is produced using two copper Holstein stills, a charcoal-filtered grain base spirit, and juniper handpicked in the surrounding forests of Müritz National Park. Found and Distiller, Alex 'Olli' Remzi, began his career as an engineer in the USA before moving to Germany and designing and building the distillery by hand.

Meet the Maker
"My cabin sized distillery is a converted well-house that used to provide water to my village before the fall of the wall when all this was still East Germany. We are about an hour north of Berlin and the distillery sits in my backyard and I set about converting it into my laboratory around 2016. It was a slow process that involved a great deal of support from my neighbours who are all in the building trades." - Alex Remzi, Distiller
