Panda Gin - Review & Tasting Notes
Panda Gin
Launched in 2017, Panda Gin is produced in Belgium using water from the Hautes Fagnes (High Fens) nature reserve in the east of the country - renowned for being some of the purest water in Europe. The gin's name is a reference to the use of lychee, a fruit native to China, as one of the botanicals. Panda Gin is made using only organic ingredients and without any added sugar or other additives. |
The Gin Guide Review
Panda Gin is a distinctive and contemporary gin with an enjoyable journey of aromas and flavours. Upon pouring, the nose is initially dominated by sweet fruit notes, then when left to breathe it reveals much greater depth with cherry, anise and savoury herbs giving balance. Consequently, on the palate you anticipate a heavy and sweet fruitiness, but it is light, smooth and summery. The lychee fruitiness is there but the sweetness is subtle and well balanced with deeper notes of herbs and orange peel which linger through the finish alongside earthy star anise. Panda Gin is a charming gin and when mixed with tonic water it is uplifting with fruity high notes and herbaceous low notes. Basil or rosemary make for ideal garnish starting points. - Paul Jackson, 2020 |

MEET THE MAKER
"We are passionate about spirits and have worked extensively in the catering sector. We noticed that there was a shortage of organic spirits and also that the lychee was not often, if ever used."
