Pentland Hills Gin - Review & Tasting Notes
Pentland Hills Gin
Based in South Lanarkshire on the edge of the Pentland Hills Regional Park, the distillery was established in 2017 by husband and wife Philip and Tabatha Cox. After 18 months of product development they launched Pentland Hills Gin in 2018. Their copper pot still named 'Amy' is housed in a converted stable at their 13 acre small holding. The distillery is also home to Panza, the Chocolate Labrador, who is pictured on the etched bottles. Sustainability and using local resources are central to the Pentland Hills Gin approach and they are one of the pioneering distilleries in offering a bottle refill service. |
The Gin Guide Review
Rather than following the well-trodden path of rural Scottish distilleries by focusing on locally foraged flowers, berries and leaves, Pentland Hills Gin pushes the boat out by combining bold orange and mint with cocoa nibs alongside classic gin botanicals at its core. It's done with great success in a smooth, flavoursome and moreish gin, while the presentation, branding and Phil and Tabatha themselves showcase the attachment with rural Scotland and a charming rustic character. When serving as a G&T, pink grapefruit and/or mint make for an ideal garnish starting point. - Paul Jackson, 2019 |

MEET THE MAKERS
"With the gin good to go, it’s delivery brought a number of challenges especially around the ability to make the bottle reusable and refillable, but this was key to us achieving both sustainability and a circular economy at the heart of how we create and deliver Pentland Hills Gin."
