Spirit of Wales Distillery
Opened in 2021 by Founder, Daniel Dyer and Head Distiller, James Gibbons, the Spirit of Wales Distillery aims to produce spirits which embody their Celtic roots and Wales' industrial heritage of steel production, coal mining, agriculture and fishing traditions. Before opening Spirit of Wales Distillery, Daniel ran a signage company in Florida and James, who has a degree in Chemical Engineering, was Head Distiller at Mallorca Distillery in Spain.

Steeltown Gin

  • Botanicals: 10 including juniper, angelica root, coriander seeds, lemon peel, grapefruit peel, orris root, rosemary, cardamom, liquorice root, cassia bark.​

Tasting Notes: Aromas of fresh lemon and grapefruit peel, rosemary and subtly floral orris root. On the palate, juniper and citrus peel oils, backed by cardamom spice. A finish of bittersweet citrus with notes dry rosemary and lingering cardamom.
Serving Suggestion / Garnish: Gin & Tonic with garnish of Lemon or Grapefruit & Rosemary, or in a Negroni, Bramble or Gimlet.
The Gin Guide Review: Much like the miners, farmers, fishermen and steel workers that inspire the brand, Steeltown Gin is fittingly hearty and robust, with a strong core of classic botanials. It is a traditional and versatile gin with the deep and zesty citrus character of lemon and grapefruit peels which combine very effectively with undertones of dry, herbaceous rosemary and cardamom spice.
